My Approach

Handwriting isn't one isolated skill — it's the product of motor control, visual processing, and cognitive factors all working together. At Foundations First Co., we address the whole picture, not just letter formation in isolation. Our program combines hands-on, research-backed intervention with real-world carryover, so progress made in session actually sticks at home. Every child receives 1-on-1, undivided attention right in their own living room, built around a consistent, 18-week semester package — because lasting motor pathways aren't built in a one-off session here and there.

Evaluation

What it is: A comprehensive pediatric OT evaluation conducted right in your living room. We assess fine motor skills, visual motor skills, visual-perceptual skills, and handwriting, along with a sensory profile to understand exactly how your child engages and participates in their natural home environment.

Why it matters: We can't build an effective program without first understanding exactly what is holding your child's writing back. This evaluation gives us a clear, individualized baseline and serves as the exact blueprint for your child's custom 18-week semester package and home programming toolkit.

Weekly Sessions

What it is: 18 weekly 45-minute sessions delivered entirely 1-on-1 in the comfort of your own home, comprising our Spring Semester package.

Why it matters: Research shows it takes consistent, intensive work to build new motor pathways and see real change in handwriting. Weekly 1-on-1 sessions provide that vital consistency, while the mobile setting guarantees my undivided attention and allows your child to build skills in the exact environment where they do their daily schoolwork.

Home Program

What it is: Direct, 1-on-1 feedback at the end of every in-home session, paired with a comprehensive, custom-built practice binder featuring activities tied directly to your child's weekly goals.

Why it matters: You are the one with your child every day. True intensive progress requires more than one weekly session, but you shouldn't have to pay for multiple therapy visits a week to get it. We use a few minutes at the end of every visit to update your practice binder and problem-solve real barriers, ensuring you have the exact tools and confidence to carry over progress all week long.

Investment

This is an all-inclusive price for the 18-week semester. All 18 weekly in-home sessions, your weekly parent wrap-ups, and your custom home programming toolkit are included, with no hidden fees or add-ons along the way. (Please note: The initial comprehensive evaluation is billed separately at $350).

We are an ESA-approved provider via ClassWallet, meaning homeschool families can apply their allotted funds directly toward the program without coming out of pocket.

This investment reflects more than just session time. Years spent specializing specifically in fine motor development and handwriting means knowing exactly which barriers tend to get in the way of real carryover at home — and building a program, and a home plan, designed to actually work around them. You're not just paying for 45 minutes a week; you're paying for the specialized clinical expertise that makes the other six days count, too.
